InFocus
Beginning in January 2025, comments on our posts will not be accepted on our Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram posts. This decision ensures that our social media platforms remain effective communication tools for the District and a valuable resource for our school community, free from distraction, disruption, or potential legal challenges.
Why We’re Making This Change:
- Focusing on Our Mission
Our social media platforms are designed to highlight positive news, achievements, and updates from our schools while directing our community to the EASD website. By restricting comments, we can stay focused on sharing successes, programs, and opportunities.
- Avoiding Viewpoint Discrimination
Like public comments at board meetings, our authority to remove social media comments is limited. Restricting comments prevents potential concerns over bias or discrimination.
- Creating a Respectful Space
Maintaining a safe and respectful environment for students, families, and staff is a priority. Managing inappropriate or harmful comments demands significant oversight, which is neither practical nor sustainable.
- Streamlining Communication
Responding to the high volume of comments on certain posts is often unmanageable, leading to the perception that we are ignoring feedback. This change ensures consistent and focused communication.
- Preventing External Spam
Auto-generated comments, such as spam links or inappropriate content, can detract from our messaging and values.
- Minimizing Unrelated Discussions
Comment sections are frequently used for conversations unrelated to the post’s intent, diluting our communication efforts until those comments can be addressed.
Moving Forward Together
We value the connection we share with our school community and are committed to providing timely and transparent updates through our social media channels. While comments will no longer be an option, we encourage you to stay involved by visiting our social media pages and website for news and resources.
