This holiday season, East High Street Elementary School continued its cherished tradition of generosity through its annual Giving Tree and Food Drive. The initiative brightened the holidays for 95 children from 28 families, including 54 school-aged students from the East High Street school community.
The Giving Tree invited faculty, staff, and East High families to fulfill wish lists from families facing financial challenges. Participants provided thoughtful gifts—from essential items like hats, gloves, and jackets to toys, crafts and sports gear. In addition, families received a gift certificate from Groff’s Meats and wrapping paper, courtesy of the PTO.
East High Street Elementary Principal Megan Moffett noted that this outpouring of kindness reflects the school’s strong commitment to supporting one another during the season of giving. “We are lucky to have so many families that support each other at East High,” said Moffett.
At the same time, the Food Drive empowered students to make a difference by donating non-perishable items. The school community rallied to collect an impressive 1,120 grocery items for families experiencing hardship. The effort was further supported by the school’s Student Lighthouse Team, who helped organize and prepare the food drive boxes for distribution.
These efforts align with the District’s Benefits-based Accountability initiative, where Community Connections serve as a foundational pillar. Through programs like these, East High Street Elementary instills in students the value of service, fostering a spirit of compassion and encouraging them to become engaged members of their community.
